Open Access Policy
Tarbiyah: Jurnal Ilmu Pendidikan dan Pengajaran is a fully open access journal. This means that all articles published in the journal are made freely available to anyone, anywhere in the world, without subscription fees, paywalls, or registration requirements. Readers are permitted to access, read, download, copy, print, search, and link to the full texts of all articles immediately upon publication.
We believe that research in the field of education should be accessible to educators, researchers, students, policymakers, and practitioners worldwide. By removing access barriers, we support the free exchange of knowledge and enable research findings to reach those who need them most, regardless of institutional affiliation or geographic location.
Our commitment to open access is based on a simple principle: research funded by the public should be available to the public. When knowledge is shared openly, it accelerates discovery, encourages collaboration, and maximizes the social impact of scholarly work.
How Our Open Access Model Works
When you read an article published in our journal, you are not merely allowed to view it — you are granted the right to use it in meaningful ways. All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), which permits unrestricted sharing, adaptation, translation, and even commercial use, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s).
This approach differs from traditional "free-to-read" models. True open access means that copyright holders — in this case, the authors — actively grant reuse rights through an open license. It is not merely about removing payment barriers, but about providing genuine freedom for readers and researchers to work with published research.
There is no embargo period. Articles are made openly available at the time of publication, not six months or one year later. No account creation, permission requests, or approval processes are required. The published research may be used immediately in accordance with the terms of the license.
What This Means for Authors
When you publish with us, you retain the copyright to your work. Authors are not required to transfer copyright to the journal. Instead, authors grant the journal the right of first publication while retaining all other intellectual property rights.
This allows authors to reuse their articles in theses or dissertations, teaching materials, institutional repositories, personal websites, or future publications. For complete information regarding authors' rights and responsibilities, please refer to our Copyright Notice.
We also encourage authors to deposit and share their work through institutional or subject repositories, either as preprints prior to submission, as accepted manuscripts following peer review, or as the final published version. Self-archiving increases the visibility and impact of research outputs. Further details are available in our Archiving Policy.
Supporting Open Access
Open access publishing requires resources, including editorial management, peer review coordination, copyediting, typesetting, hosting, and long-term preservation. To sustain our open access model, the journal charges an Article Processing Charge (APC) of IDR 200,000 for each article accepted for publication. No submission fee is charged.
The APC is payable once an article has been formally accepted and enables permanent, unrestricted access for all readers. Comprehensive information regarding publication fees, payment procedures, and possible waivers can be found on the Article Processing Charges page.
Long-Term Preservation
Open access is meaningful only if content remains accessible over time. We are committed to ensuring the long-term availability of all published articles through reliable digital archiving systems.
Information regarding the archiving methods and services used to ensure long-term access and citability is available on our Archiving Policy page.
Our Commitment to Quality and Transparency
Being an open access journal does not mean compromising on scholarly quality. All submitted manuscripts undergo a rigorous peer review process prior to publication. We adhere to the highest standards of publication ethics and transparency, and follow best practices recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA), and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME).
We believe that transparency builds trust. For this reason, we clearly and openly state our policies regarding peer review, publication ethics, licensing, copyright, and publication fees. Detailed information is available on the Peer Review Process and Publication Ethics pages.
